Clinical studies suggest that sulforaphane increases the activity of Phase II enzymes that inactivate harmful chemicals and increase the body’s natural defense against harmful free radicals. These enzymes may afford protection against certain carcinogens.

Astaxanthin is a member of carotenoids which has ability to neutralize reactive oxygen species. It is far more effective than other carotenoids at “singlet oxygen quenching,” which is a particular type of oxidation.
